SAFE DRIVING POLICY

Al Karrar Engineering Company for General Contracting Ltd. Safe Driving Policy is to provide detailed guidelines on the road travelling and associated logistic services used by Al Karrar employees, contractors, subcontractors, and visitors for company business to achieve the goal of safe, zero accidents and environmentally sound business operations.

Al Karrar is committed to listening and responding openly to employees, contractors and the communities impacted by our logistic operations to raise the driving standards and help us meet Safe Driving goals.

For achieving these goals, we shall:
• All drivers must have completed the Rumaila Driving Safety Course with a valid Rumaila Driving Safety Passport along with the possession of an Al Karrar Driving Safety Passport. All drivers must hold an Iraqi driving license for the class of vehicle that they are operating.
• Al Karrar’s personnel and contractors, when driving or riding in a vehicle on Rumaila business, must wear Seat Belts at all times when the vehicle is in motion.
• Mobile phones, radios, iPads etc. must not be used whilst driving.
• The specified speed limits must not be exceeded in any case. Drivers must conform to all traffic laws and make allowances for adverse weather and traffic conditions. It is strictly prohibited for employees to request the driver to exceed the prescribed speed limits.
• The maximum speed limit on the contract area is 80 kilometres per hour and for other built-up areas and unpaved roads, the maximum speed limit must not exceed 50 kilometres per hour. Speeding and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.
• Alcohol, drugs or any other substance or medication that can impair the ability to drive safely must not be used when driving on a Company business or while driving a Company provided vehicle. Al Karrar reserves the right to undertake random testing of personnel for alcohol and drugs.
• Smoking in Al Karrar owned vehicles is not permitted by the drivers or passengers.
• The number of passengers in a vehicle must not exceed the manufacturer's specification for the vehicle.
• Routine journeys will be risk-assessed at least once per year or whenever the road condition changes. All abnormal loads must be assessed for possible risks and a Journey Risk Assessment must be done and approved prior to commencing the journey.
• The vehicle must conform to the Company Driving Standard, be fit for purpose, be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and be formally inspected before the commencement of work.
• Driver behaviour and performance shall be monitored and where contractually required; vehicles shall be fitted with In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems.
• In the event of negligence or non-conformance with this policy, by Company drivers, personnel or Contractors, the responsible Department Manager or Contract Accountable Manager, will be required to take the appropriate disciplinary action.
• To restrict the reoccurrence of all driving-related violations that should be reported by either driver or passengers.

AL KARRAR will implement this Policy in compliance with the requirements of relevant local Legislation, Codes of Practice, Specifications of our Clients and applicable National and International Standards.
